EASTER MESSAGE OF HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT BHARRAT JAGDEO
The joyous season of Easter is once again being celebrated in Guyana in traditional
style. I join in sharing the unhidden happiness being felt at this time by
all Christians as they celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus, an event that
is central to their faith.
Easter reminds us that the sacrifice is never in vain. Having suffered and died on the Cross, Christians believe that Jesus rose from the dead as symbolized in the raising of our kites and thereby conquered death and thereby gained salvation for all humanity. Sacrifice leads to hope, and Easter reverberates with the themes of hope and reconciliation. Inspired by the sacrifice on the cross and imbued with that certainty of purpose, Guyanese must continue to strive for a deeper and more profound understanding and love among all our peoples.
This holiday weekend, Guyanese will participate in the many varied activities which have come to be associated with a traditional Guyanese Easter. I urge that due care and attention be exercise to be safe in our activities so that we can all have a safe and enjoyable Easter celebration.
A Joyous and Blessed Easter to all Guyanese, especially our Christian brothers and sisters.
