JOINT PRESS RELEASE

President Bharrat Jagdeo and Leader of the Opposition Robert Corbin met today at the Office of the President. The two Leaders initiated consultations on matters related to the reconstitution of the four Constitutional Service Commissions.

Arising from their discussions the two Leaders agreed on the following:

• the selection of a Chairman of the Police Service Commission;

• the selection of the nominee to sit on the Judicial Service Commission

The two Leaders also began their consultations on the appointments to the Teaching Service and Public Service Commissions. Those consultations will continue during the current week. The two Leaders also agreed that with regards to the Constructive Engagement, their high representatives will meet later this week to prepare and present to the two Leaders, a status report on progress being made.
